What is FTF Live?
FTF stands for face to face. Here is what the app actually does, who is on the other side, what it costs, and how it differs from the chat apps you have already tried.
liveThe name is the product
Most chat apps are named after a feeling. This one is named after a mechanic: FTF — face to face. Both people on camera, at the same time, seeing each other react.
That single decision explains everything else about the app. There is no feed, because a feed is something you watch alone. There is no inbox, because an inbox is a conversation stretched over days. There is one screen: the person you were just matched with, live.
What actually happens when you open it
You confirm you are 18 or older, tap start, and the matching runs against people who are online at that second — not profiles of people who were online last Tuesday. The average connect time is around six seconds.
From there it is an ordinary conversation with two unusual properties: neither of you had to earn it with messages first, and either of you can end it without an explanation. Skip, and the next person is already there.
Who is on the other side
Real people, verified as adults before they can go live, from about thirty countries — the largest groups right now are Latin America, Spain, the United States and Southeast Asia.
If you do not share a language, live translation runs during the call. In practice that is the feature people notice most: it turns "we cannot really talk" into a normal conversation with subtitles.
What it costs
Starting is free and needs no card. Matching, calling and skipping do not cost anything.
Optional extras — gifts, VIP — use credits. You never have to buy them to have a conversation, and nothing asks you for payment details before your first call.
What FTF Live is not
It is not a dating app: there is no swiping, no matching queue and no profile to optimise. It is not a broadcast platform either — nobody is watching you perform to a room.
And it is not anonymous-in-name-only. There is no account, so there is nothing to leak; calls are 1-on-1 and are never recorded or replayed.
- No sign-up, no email, no password
- No download — it runs in the browser on phone and desktop
- Private room for two, nothing recorded
- Mute, block, report and skip on the call screen
There is no feed, because a feed is something you watch alone.
